The Broken Promises Moto Capsule: A Shift in Gear

The Broken Promises Moto Capsule: A Shift in Gear

In 2018, Broken Promises continued to redefine boundaries with the release of their fourth collection, the Moto Capsule Collection. Filmed guerilla-style in Yorba Linda, California, and directed by Stacking Memories, an affiliate of CBFOUR, this collection marked a significant evolution in the brand's aesthetic. Featuring a dynamic soundtrack remixed by Chris Toliver, the collection video captured the adrenaline and raw energy of the brand.

Broken Promises

For the first time, Broken Promises ventured into sports-themed apparel, introducing items like biker shorts, jerseys, leggings, and bodysuits tailored for both men and women. The collection took inspiration from the high-octane world of motorsports, blending it with the brand’s unique perspective.

"So this was our take on motocross. Without being a motocross brand or really having deep roots in extreme sports, we did our best to put those more old-school Fox Racing, Metal Militia type aesthetics through a Broken Promises lens," explained co-founder Jason Rotramel.

The collection's development was a deeply integrated creative process. "We did the music ourselves. It was a remix of an Offspring song that we had a guy, Chris Toliver, redo the beat and turn it into, like, a rap version of a rock song. So we, like, curated the music. We curated, obviously, all the clothing and all the looks, and then we worked with Stacking Memories on the storyboard and how the video would come together," Jason added.

Aiming to resonate with its audience, the collection featured emotionally charged phrases like "stay in your own lane," reinforcing the brand's core message of individuality and resilience. "I think for the collection itself, we really just tried to build a collection that spoke to our customers. So we used a lot of, like, emotional phrases like 'stay in your own lane.' And I think this was the first collection, too, where we really were like, okay, we're going to make some women's and men's products and show it as this unisex tee that anyone can wear," Jason reflected.

This collection wasn’t just about clothes; it was about making a statement on the move, geared for those who dare to stand out.
